Azara and her family are members of the Rohingya ethnic minority and live in Myanmar. Life is not easy and her people are widely discriminated against, but her family manages to get by. Nassim, her husband, is a farmer as are most of her neighbors. When Army units assault the village without warning, in a campaign many now believe was premeditated and with murderous intent, they kill several people who were unwilling or unable to hide. The soldiers and others who follow in their wake then loot and burn everyone\u2019s homes.<\/p>\n

Azara has little choice but to flee the area at once, although her husband and eldest daughter are missing. Together with her two young sons and her youngest daughter, she joins surviving members of her community in a harrowing week-long trek through a hellish landscape of burnt-out villages and fearful, uprooted communities torn apart.<\/p>\n
